September 2004

Tuesday, September 7, 2004 - A Successful Iowa Renaissance Festival

Posted by QueenCate

A brief note to express our pleasure at the reception "Have Court, Will Travel" received from the patrons, merchants and performers at the Iowa Renaissance Festival and Gathering of the Celts, held this last Labor Day weekend in Middle Amana Park, Middle Amana, Iowa.

Our new members gained knowledge and experience, our seasoned members presented educational programs on Renaissance Manners, Renaissance Weaponry and the Royal Hounds, much to the delight of rather large audiences. (often numbering between sixty and seventy audience members for each program offered over the three days the presentations were given)

We made new friends in the forms of Captain Stephen Douglas, the charming pirate and the engaging and beautiful Wood Nymph...the very herald of the autumn season.

Our old friends were well met indeed, from Robin Hood and Maid Marion, to the Horseman, Mistress Taya, the Pirates from the Pirate Comedy Show, the Riders of the New Golden Age, William O'Wickam with his lovely lady Julie and our loyal admirer "Q" and Sir Geoffrey of Quinn, the truly amazing magician and the sweet Colan with his archery range.

See photos from the IRF in our gallery in the next week or so and see "Have Court, Will Travel" in person at the Nebraska Renaissance Festival and Medieval Pageant in Ashland, Nebraska on September 25 - 26, 2004.
