August 2005

Monday, August 8, 2005 - Fall Auditions Complete

Posted by QueenCate

Have Court, Will Travel held auditions for new members on August 25th and September 22nd. We have found a few great new members during this process but are still interested in locating a few more folks who may still be out there, but were unable to attend auditions on the two Thursday evenings that we scheduled.

If you still wish to be considered, the process is this: email the director at: queencate@havecourtwilltravel.com and request an introductory meeting. We will get together with you, give you basic information on how we operate and what we expect from new members and get you started on building your persona. Below are still some characters which we would like to fill, though a couple of our new members have invented great new personas that will fit in well with those currently existing within our group.

Characters:

Charles Sydney, Earl of Leiceister – between 60 & 70 years of age, the right actor could be made up to look older. This is an incorrigible, yet loveable old gentleman, who loves the ladies. He is courtly, with a roving twinkle in his eye. (blood relative to the Queen & King)

Lord Stephen Davies, Royal Chancellor – late 30’s to 60, this man is highly ranked within the royal court and is a rival to the royal steward, Lord Geoffrey Randolph. Should enjoy throwing insults!

Thomas Hayward, Baron of Richeport – 18 – 25 years old, this young nobleman is hoping to improve his station in life by courting the prickly Princess Margaret. He should be good at groveling, sucking up and flirting with young ladies on the side. Fencing ability, or the willingness to learn swordplay, a plus!

Ambassador to the Royal Court – 30’s -60’s, we are open to men auditioning for this role to choose their favorite European country, France, Scotland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, etc. and develop the courtly manners of an ambassador from that country. This character can be anything you want it to be!

Lady Penelope Sydney – 30’s – 40’s, cousin to the Queen and King, this lady can be unhappily married or a widow, with a somewhat grumpy personality. She gets away with murder because she is related to the royal family.

** cast ** Lady Beatrice Morton – 17 – 25, the flirt of the royal court. Bea is lively and high- spirited, attempting to catch the eye of every gentleman she meets. If possible, she wants to marry Prince Henri, although he is too young for her.

Lady Lenore Rothchild – 17 – 30, she could be single or married, with a sweet disposition. Favorite of the Queen, she is often envied by other court members, particularly Princess Margaret.

The Court Fool – 17 – 50, can be a man or woman. Must be quick witted and clever at observing things going on around you and making loud, possibly rude comments about events and people. Juggling would be a plus, as well as limericks, tumbling, dancing or musical abilities. If you can make us laugh, this “show-off” of the court may be the part for you!

Royal Guards – 18 – 40, we are looking for two to four new members of the guard squad. Members learn extensively about renaissance weapons and take part in a presention on them at each festival. Must be prepared to receive the admiration of little kids and admiring glances from ladies of all ages. A fun group of guys…do you look good in tights?

Royal Musicians – any ages, can be a trumpeter, tympani player, recorder ensemble, string quartet, most anything! You would not be required to spend the entire day with the royal court, unless you wanted to! You would be wanted to play at various activities the royal court hosts once or twice a festival day.
