June 2004
Wednesday, June 16, 2004 - New Members Sought
Posted by QueenCate
Have Court, Will Travel is losing a few members before our autumn festival season. (several folks are off to either college or to serve their country in the military - we are so proud!)
Our usual group has about 20 - 22 members and with our current vacancies our number has dropped to seventeen. Although we can operate easily with that amount of people, we would be happy to welcome a few new faces.
If you live in the Des Moines area and are interested in learning more about us or possibly joining us, contact me via this website.
We are looking for:
Prince of Wales - age 18 to 23
Royal Guard or Royal Trumpeter (must play trumpet) - any age
Lady in Waiting, possibly two individuals - one age 20 to 32 and one age 33 - 55
Gentleman of the Court - age 25 - 55
All members of Have Court, Will Travel are expected to work up a strong character and develop improvisational acting skills. Members must be willing to assist in set-up prior to a festival and tear-down of the royal court area after a festival weekend. We are a fun group of people who love renaissance festivals!
Wednesday, June 2, 2004 - Our First Successful Faire of 2004!
Posted by QueenCate
On behalf of Have Court, Will Travel, we would like to thank the Des Moines Renaissance Faire & Coronation Pageant for making our first faire in 2004 such a pleasant experience.
The only drawback was the high wind which caused us to lose our pavilion on Monday. (nothing that cannot be fixed) Everything else was pure pleasure. (the brief rain periods bothered us not at all)
Our royal banquets, knightings and lady selection ceremonies were well attended. However, the new "stars" of our court seem to be our royal hounds and the houndskeepers, the O'Malley family. From the Ooohs and Ahhhs our Irish Wolfhounds received during our "Meet the Wolfhounds" presentation, it looks as though we shall have to dedicate a photo gallery just to them.
Speaking of photos...check back in the next week or so - our royal photographer, Lady Carolyn J, captured wonderful festival moments that we shall be proud to share with our friends and admirers!
