Welcome!

Welcome to the new home page of Have Court, Will Travel! We portray a fictitious court in the historical time period of the 1550s. We can be booked to appear at your renaissance festival or other themed event. We provide the color and pageantry of the renaissance time period. Each court member is a fully fleshed out character who can interact and improvise with patrons of all ages. Knighting and Lady selection ceremonies, merchant visits, and royal audiences are all a part of the Have Court experience.

Long, strange story about why Have Court, Will Travel is now NOT going to be attending and reigning over that particular shire.

The producer of the festival contacted us, asking if we would be their royalty for 2008. I hesitated and questioned him, KNOWING they have a court group already in place. The producer mentioned "growing pains" and actors overall being "pains" and that he wanted to know if another acting group was available to him and at what price, should his regulars bow out.

Apparently after a couple of weeks going by, the Riverssance royals officially quit "turning in their notice in writing" over artistic differences with the Producer and his Managment team.

An official offer was made to Have Court, Will Travel in writing, via email, though I warned the Producer I felt his original royals would come running back, ready to do anything to re-take their positions. He assured me they had chosen to quit and that his offer to us was true and valid. He even discussed when he wanted us to arrive.

Well of course, as I predicted, the original royals found out they were replaceable and fell immediately in line. (this is where it gets tacky)

The Riverssance Management team waited until their Producer was out of commission and hospitalized and met with the original royalty group. Of course, everyone made nice and then told the Producer that he could just tell Have Court, Will Travel "never mind" and everything would be fine.

That is exactly what happened. The hapless Producer of Riverssance wrote me saying he was being "forced" by his committee to back out of our contract. He expressed his sorrow and humilation more than once.

Even though I figured this would happen from the beginning, it still stings. Personally, I feel sorry for an event Producer who apparently has no authority over and no respect from his Management team. It makes his job difficult, if not impossible to perform.

Have Court, Will Travel counts itself lucky to work for an awesome management team with the Des Moines Renaissance Faire and a professional a friendly group with the brand-new Dubuque Renaissance Faire.

Come see us May 31st or June 1st in Dubuque, IA or Labor Day Weekend and the two weekends following that in September, in Des Moines. Just don't look for us in Sioux City. We won't be there!
